Campus SummaryTOP

TCI was founded in 1909 under the name Marconi Institute by Guglielmo Marconi, the Nobel Prize winner and inventor of the wireless telegraph. It was acquired in 1919 by David Sarnoff, who also founded RCA and renamed the school RCA Institutes. Through the years, the school became known as one of the top schools in the country for the training of technicians in the growing fields of radio, television, electronics and communications. The college has continually updated its programs to keep pace with technology. Now known as TCI-The College For Technology, the college is recognized as a national leader in education and was recently named by Community College Week as the #1 school in the country for graduates with two-year engineering-related degrees - for the fourth consecutive year.
TCI has grown to serve more than 4,000 students each semester in degree programs designed to educate men and women in today's emerging technological fields. The college collaborates closely with New York City and regional employers to develop its curricula and prepare graduates for the needs of today's workplace. TCI's excellent job placement rate is central to its reputation as one of the country's leading two-year colleges.
TCI's main building is located at 320 West 31st street, directly across from Manhattan's Main Post Office and diagonally opposite Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. It can be reached by buses and subways. New York’s major bus station, the Port Authority Bus Terminal, is a ten-minute walk (or one subway stop) away.
The main building occupies 112,000 square feet and houses 65 air-conditioned classrooms, 16 computer rooms, 9 electronics, 6 air conditioning, heating ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration and one computer-assisted design laboratory. TCI's central location in New York City allows students to utilize many resources as they seek to begin their careers upon graduation.
