Campus SummaryTOP

Lake Forest College is a coeducational undergraduate community of 1200 students that celebrates the personal growth accompanying the quest for excellence. Founded in 1857, Lake Forest provides a secure residential campus of great beauty and enriches its curriculum with the vibrant resources of Chicago.

The College is located thirty miles north of Chicago, the town of Lake Forest is perched on a bluff overlooking 321 mile long Lake Michigan. The second safest city in the country, Lake Forest is a suburban community. The College is a five minute walk from the beachfront, downtown, and the train station- which provides service into Chicago nearly every hour. The 107 acre campus is actually divided by nature into three connecting campuses, defined by wooded ravines and open expanses of lawn perfect for a weekend barbecue. This scenic campus has been host to several movies and casting calls.

Unique/Special ProgramsTOP

Lake Forest College has several distinctive programs that allows its students to continually grow. The Richter Apprentice Program grants selected freshmen the opportunity to work one-on-one with a faculty member of their choice over the summer doing various research projects. Off campus study programs consist of Paris, France; Santiago, Chile; and Greece and Turkey. In addition, the College offers the opportunity for off campus study through two consortiums of Midwestern colleges. This consortium provides 14 programs in locations like Germany, Florence, and even Chicago.

Finally, each student will be assigned a freshmen advisor right away, mainly to help you with academic decisions. Later, when you decide on a major, you can keep that advisor or get another who's more of an expert in your field of study. Either way you will have a mentor who can help you become more and more of an independent learner. The College also offers academic scholarships for those students showing academic excellence.
